Lindsay Lohan dad Michael domestic violence case dismissed - Digital Spy

A misdemeanor domestic violence charge filed against Lindsay Lohan's father Michael has been dismissed.

A spokesperson for the LA County District Attorney's Office confirmed that prosecutors have halted all legal proceedings against Michael stemming from an alleged physical confrontation with former girlfriend Kate Major in March.

The domestic violence trial was to begin this morning, but prosecutors have been unable to contact Majors for some time and cannot proceed without her direct testimony, The AP reports.

Michael's lawyer Dana Cole has claimed that Major had chosen not to co-operate with authorities in order to avoid undue press attention, but stressed that she had not been given a financial settlement from Lohan.

The pair dated for several months and even became engaged over Easter 2010, but Michael called off the impending nuptials months later amid reports of volatile rows.

Michael is currently starring in Celebrity Rehab, which airs Sundays at 9/8c on VH1.

His former wife Dina has apparently told friends that she is negotiating to join the cast of ABC reality series Dancing with the Stars.
